Pike Session - Newpool - 17/01/2026

All anglers arrived by 08:00 and waited in the car park while the rods were set up and swims organised.

Five minutes into the session and Harry hooked a nice jack pike whilst being coached by Ray, this was approximately 5lb caught on dead bait cast around 25ft out. During the session, Jasper had two pike and Theo had one, both coached by Andy Ashmore. On the opposite side of the pool, Vajk, a new member to our club events hooked into a nice pike while being coached by Graham B.

As we were winding down, Harry P landed a nice jack pike whilst being coached by Jim M. Jim also coached Ollie Elliott who also had a great pike. Ollie was thrilled to say the least. The weather was calm at the start but became cooler halfway through the session as the wind picked up. What impressed us the most was the number of questions being asked and the patience shown while waiting for bites.

Unfortunately, a couple of the young anglers didn’t catch on the day, but they remained positive - this is fishing for you.

Kevo lead the day along with all the other coaches and volunteers, I would like to say a massive thank you as these days wouldn’t be possible without them. Unfortunately I couldn’t be there today as I was doing some work in the background to keep these events running
